WEST HAVEN, Conn. – After an eight-day layoff, a refreshed New Haven men's soccer team will return to the pitch on Tuesday evening at home to host Nyack at 7 p.m.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The two teams will be meeting for the sixth time in program history, with the Chargers holding a 4-1 edge in the all-time series. The last time the two teams met resulted in a 3-0 New Haven win in 2015. New Haven has won three of the four games at home.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (1-1-0, 0-0-0 NE10)
New Haven has seen both sides of the coin through its first two games of the season. The
Brian Quinn era got off on the right foot on Sept. 5 with a big 3-2 season-opening win over in-state rival Bridgeport.
Nate Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) got the Chargers started early in the 10th minute with a goal, and
Zachary Almonte (New Hempstead, N.Y./Saint Joseph Regional) scored the game-winner in the 83rd minute on a header off a corner kick. The Chargers received a strong defensive effort from its back line, making three defensive saves, including two from
Francisco Guedes (Lisbon, Portugal/Maristas de Carcavelos).
Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College) made four saves in goal for New Haven.
The Chargers then suffered a frustrating 2-1 setback to Molloy on Sept. 8, despite outshooting the Lions 26-11 and hitting four posts in the match.
The team features a number of new faces to this year's program, with 12 new players added to this year's roster, including eight incoming freshmen. New Haven was selected to finish 11th in the NE10 Preseason Poll.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS (0-1-2, 0-0-0 CACC)
After consecutive draws to open the season, Nyack dropped a 4-3 decision at home to Saint Anselm on Sunday. The team previously tied Southern Connecticut State at home 3-3, and opened up the season with a 2-2 non-region draw at Shippensburg.
Six different Warriors have scored goals this season, with junior Mitchell Reed the only player with multiple goals and assists (two each). Sophomore Fabio Bruns Ribeiro helped force overtime on Sunday, putting in a rebound with 17 seconds left to tie SCSU and force overtime.
The Warriors are coming off a 2-15-1 season in 2018 and were selected to finish last in the 13-team Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in 2019.
ON DECK
The Chargers will host American International to open up NE10 play on Saturday at 7 p.m.
