WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Coming off a thrilling opening night win on Thursday, the New Haven men's soccer team will look to make it two wins in a row this Sunday afternoon when they host Molloy at Kathy Zolad Stadium at 2 p.m.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The two teams have met 15 times before in program history, with Molloy holding a 9-6 advantage all-time and having won the last two matchups in a row. The Chargers hold a 4-3 on their home field against Molloy.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (1-0, 0-0 NE10)
The
Brian Quinn era got off on the right foot on Thursday night with a big 3-2 season-opening win over Bridgeport.
Nate Peduzzi (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old Lyme) got the Chargers started early in the 10
th minute with a goal after a steal at the top of the box by
JP Viruet (Seymour, Conn./Seymour). After an own goal by Bridgeport in the 64
th minute tied the game 2-2, New Haven scored what proved to be the winning goal off a corner kick in the 83
rd minute when
Estanislao Desseno (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Saint Patrick College) served a ball into the box that was headed home by
Zachary Almonte (New Hempstead, N.Y./Saint Joseph Regional).
The Chargers received a strong defensive effort from its back line, making three defensive saves, including two from
Francisco Guedes (Lisbon, Portugal/Maristas de Carcavelos).
Stefano Lorusso (Auckland, New Zealand/Sacred Heart College) made four saves in goal for New Haven.
The team features a number of new faces to this year's program, with 12 new players added to this year's roster, including eight incoming freshmen. New Haven was selected to finish 11th in the NE10 Preseason Poll.
SCOUTING THE LIONS (0-0-1, 0-0-0 ECC)
Molloy played to a 1-1 tie against East Stroudsburg in its opening night match on the road on Thursday. The Lions face a tough stretch of five consecutive road matches to start the season. After falling behind 1-0 late in the half, Nick Bigilin scored for Molloy in the 80
th minute to knot the game 1-1.
The Lions are coming off a 2-15 campaign in 2018, which included an 0-9 mark in East Coast Conference play. They were selected seventh in the year's ECC Preseason Poll.
Molloy returns its top three point-scorers from last year, including senior Paul Morales, Anthony Cestaro and junior Oscar Magnusson.
ON DECK
The Chargers will have eight days off before continuing their four-game homestand to start the season next Tuesday, Sept 17 with a matchup against Nyack at 7 p.m.
