THE LEAD
The University of New Haven men's soccer team once again returns home to take on the Stonehill Skyhawks at Kathy Zolad Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 PM.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Chargers hold a slight edge in what has been a tightly contested series between the two teams. New Haven leads 15-14-2 with a home record of 8-5. The last time the the Chargers played the Skyhawks was Oct. 5, 2019, which resulted in a 1-1 tie after extending into double overtime the game. Click Here for a complete series history.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (5-2, 2-2Â NE10)
Last time the Chargers took the pitch, the squad picked up their second consecutive conference victory in a 3-2 win over Saint Rose in overtime. New Haven enters the matchup with the second most goals scored as a team (23) in the NE-10.
Pau Santanach's (Barcelona, Spain/Collegi CreaNova) scoring streak came to an end at six games, but with an overtime assist on Adam Lindstrom's (Orbero, Sweden/Grillska Gymnasiet) game-winner, his point streak continues.
Tiago Vintem (Lisbon, Portugal/E.S. Pedro Nunes) scored his third goal of the season to put the Chargers on the board first against Saint Rose. Grad student Andreas Xenofontos (Niscosia, Cyprus/GC School of Careers)Â added his first goal of the year during the overtime thriller, as well.
Tano Desseno (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Saint Patrick College), Imanol Ruiz (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain/Sagrado Corazon Carmelitas), and Alexander Gunnarsson (Kopavogur, Iceland/Verzlenarskoli Islands) all also tallied assists in the contest. Desseno (6) and Gunnarsson (5) are now first and second, respectively, in the conference in assists.
New Haven enters the matchup outshooting opponents, 92-63 (45-40 on goal). The Chargers have also drawn more cornerkicks, 38-30.
The Charger's freshman goalkeeper Themis Kastoris (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasiet) made a season-high six saves to help lead the team to victory. He now stands at fifth in the conference with 24 saves on the year.
SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKSÂ (4-4, 1-2 NE10)
The Skyhawks are still looking to put their 4-12-1 (2-9-1) 2019 season behind them. After being ranked 11th in the NE-10 Preseason Coaches's Poll and they will come into the matchup holding a 4-4 record (1-2). The Skyhawks have struggled on the road this season, entering with a 1-3 away record.Â
Stonehill is coming off a victory in their last game, a week prior to Saturday's matchup, a 4-1 win over Southern Connecticut. The Skyhawks are looking to continue that spark on offense as they've been outscore 16-15 so far this season.
Stonehill entered the season with a diverse roster with five freshman, 10 sophomores, seven juniors, and six seniors.
Head coach Jim Reddish entered his 14th season as head coach of the men's soccer program at his alma mater. Reddish holds a 83-115-16 record (53-94-11 NE-10) with three NE-10 quarterfinals appearances as the leader of the Skyhawks.Â

The New Haven men's soccer team will head back on the road but won't have to travel far as they take on crosstown conference rival Southern Connecticut State University. Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Oct. 6 at Jess Dow Field.
