From New York to Back to West Haven
After completing a four-game adventure with all games taking place in New York, the Chargers return to action on their home court for the first time in 637 days. Their last time in Charger Gymnasium was Feb. 25 back in 2020, a non-conference matchup against Molloy, which resulted in a 74-67 loss for the Blue and Gold. New Haven will have back-to-back home games with the first being Nov. 23 against the Pace Setters, followed by a non-conference pairing after on Saturday Nov. 27 against Dominican after Thanksgiving break. Tuesday's events will start with the women's game against the Setters at 5:30 p.m., with the men's game directly afterwards, estimated to be around 7:30 p.m. Both teams will be facing the same conference rival.
Inside the Series
In the previous season, New Haven saw Pace twice in the regular season starting with a game at home in the Charger Gymnasium, and a visit to Pleasantville further along in the season. Both games resulted in losses in added to the Chargers overall record.
Quashawn Lane (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy) hit double-digit scoring in both games against Pace last season combining for a total of 25 points over the course of two. Lane currently sits second on the roster in terms of scoring averaging 13.8 ppg.
Scouting the Setters (4-0, 1-0 NE10)
Both the Chargers and the Setters started their seasons on 3-0 runs, however Pace was able to extend theirs to 4-0 taking a 78-51 victory over an NE10 school, American International. Their first conference win of the season happened to be their largest win out of all four games, a 27-point differential.
Dominick Cristiano has played in all four of the Setters games but has not seen a spot in the starting five. Cristiano is the biggest scoring threat on the roster with 61 points so far this season shooting 76.7 percent from the field on 34 attempted shots.
Brandon Jacobs is a massive threat at the free throw line. So far this season, Jacobs has had 23 attempts at the stripe and has only missed three, for an average of 5.0 free throws made per game.
Scouting the Chargers (3-1, 0-1 NE10)
Upstate this past weekend, the Chargers suffered their first loss falling to the Dolphins 79-75.
For the third consecutive time this season, New Haven had three or more players reach double-digit scoring. This time around it was
Quashawn Lane (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy),
Davontrey Thomas (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie), and
Victor Olawoye (Elmont, N.Y. /Elmont Memorial High School ) each with 20, 14, and 11 points respectively.
Igniting the court for the first time this season was graduate student,
Derrick Rowland (Cohoes, N.Y./Green Tech). Rowland has climbed his way up the charts of New Haven program records and this year should be no different. In the 2019-20 season he hit a season-high and career-high of 32 points at Adelphi featuring six made three-point field goals. At Le Moyne, Rowland saw 24 minutes of action on the floor making 3-of-9 field goal attempts for a total of six points.

Watch the Chargers take their home court for the first time in over a year this Tuesday, Nov. 23.
