NEW HAVEN, Conn. – With the turn of the calendar the men's and women's track teams found more of the same success from 2021 when they traveled to New York to compete in the MLK Collegiate Relays.
Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) continued to fly in the pit finishing first in the long jump landing a jump of (5.33m). Teammate Destinee Innis-Lemar () finished right behind Washington jumping (4.52m) to take second place. Washington would then win again in the pit during the triple jump, jumping (10.92m) followed by teammate Mikayla Yatsko (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) who finished in third with a (10.48m) jump.
Continuing with field events Jalynn McCown (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) and Elise Dodel (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) finished first and second in both shot put and the weight throw. McCown took first in both events throwing (10.01m) in shot and (14.10m) in the weight followed by Dodel who recorded (9.46m) and (12.44m).
The Women's 4x200m relay team of Mackenzie Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood), Destinee Innis-Lemar (), Mikayla Yatsko (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion), and Maritza Blanchard (Lake Grove, N.Y./Centereach) took home second place crossing in a time of (1:51.99).
The Women's distance medley team of Daphna Gerber (/Glenbrook South High School), Maritza Blanchard (Lake Grove, N.Y./Centereach), Hope Cuomo (West Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) and Neva Bostic (Saint Johnsbury, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) finished fifth in the medley, crossing in (5:04.70).
Savannah Sistrunk (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences), Daphna Gerber (/Glenbrook South High School), Destinee Innis-Lemar () and Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) finished in second place in the 4x400m relay posting a time of (4:18.98)
On the men's side the team of Abdiel Tejada, Jordany Dely (Spring Valley, N.Y./Paramus Catholic), Cole Parker (Severn, MD/Annapolis Area Christian School), and Nathaniel Peters (/) finished in first place in the Shuttle Hurdle finishing with a time of (33.16).
The Women's 4x200m relay team of Mackenzie Evans (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood), Destinee Innis-Lemar (), Mikayla Yatsko (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion), and Maritza Blanchard (Lake Grove, N.Y./Centereach) took home second place crossing in a time of (1:51.99).

The Men's distance medley team of Fredrick Koosman, Cole Parker (Severn, MD/Annapolis Area Christian School), Nathaniel Peters (/) and Cameron Picard crossed with a time of (3:58.37) to place them in third in the meet.
The men's team took home one more third place finish in the 4x200m relay when the team of Jason Lorent (/), Nile Colson (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute), Blake Jandreau (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall), and Ryan Williams (Malverne, N.Y./Valley Stream North) crossed in (1:30.88).
Both the men and women's teams return to New York next Friday to compete in the Ramapo Season Opener.
