THE LEAD
Coming down the homestretch of the 2022 season, the New Haven women's soccer team embarks on its penultimate road game in the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they head to Manchester, N.H. for a date with the SNHU Penmen. Kickoff in the NE10 contest is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Penmen Stadium.

SERIES HISTORY VS SNHU
New Haven and SNHU have met 23 times prior to Saturday with the all-time series in favor of the penmen at 5-14-4 overall. Southern New Hampshire has won the last five meetings between the two squads with the last New Haven victory coming in 2013, 2-0. The two games following that both ended in a draw before the Penmen began their current five-game streak in 2016. Last season, New Haven dropped a 3-1 decision to the Penmen at Kathy Zolad Stadium.

SCOUTING THE CHARGERS (4-8-2, 2-7 NE10)
With three games remaining in the NE10 regular season, the Chargers are currently four points out of what would be a five-way tie for the final three spots in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Championship. The Chargers are looking to snap a four-game skid when they head to SNHU on Saturday, with three of those games decided by a single goal, including a 1-0 loss to Saint Michael's this past Wednesday. For the season, senior striker Madison Blonde (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) has emerged as the Chargers biggest threat, leading the team with six of the 12 total goals scored. She also has an assist for 13 points. The remaining six UNH goals have come from five different players with the only other Charger to score more than once this season being sophomore Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) who has two goals and an assist for five points. In goal, graduate transfer goalkeeper Amanda McQuillan has played every minute between the pipes making 65 saves on the season and finishing a trio of games in shutout fashion.

SCOUTING THE PENMEN (5-2-4, 2-2-4 NE10)
Southern New Hampshire remains in control of their own fate for the upcoming conference championships, currently one of five teams tied with 10 points with those five teams making up what would be the final three spots in the tournament were the season to end today. Entering Saturday, the Penmen are looking to break a six-game winless streak, which includes a draw in each of their last four games, with the most recent victory back on September 17, a 3-1 win over Assumption. Despite the four draws on its schedule, SNHU is outscoring its opponents 19-8, with six different players racking up two or more goals. Leading the team is junior Nida Orloff who has 10 points on four goals and a pair of assists. In goal, graduate keeper Hanna Rose has played the majority of minutes, all but 109 on the season. To date she has 39 saves and a trio of solo shutouts.

HONOR ROLL
After scoring three goals, including two game-winners and adding an assist, senior forward Madison Blonde (Rockland, Mass./Rockland) not only led her team to a pair of NE10 victories, but she also earned herself Northeast-10 Player of the Week honors, the first such honor of her career. Blonde opened up her seven-point week with a pair of goals in a 2-1 win over Pace. The senior striker scored the equalizer and the game-winner which came with less than three minutes remaining against the Setters, earning her team its first NE10 win of the season. She followed that up with the game-winning goal with 15 minutes to play in another come-from-behind victory against Saint Anselm. Earlier in that game, she also assisted on the first of two goals from sophomore Vickie Fleming (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills). For the season, Blonde leads the team with four goals and an assist for nine points.
