WHAT'S ON TAP
The Chargers will head away from the comfy confines of Charger Gymnasium for the first time this season when they head to the capital of New York, Albany, to take on the Saint Rose Golden Knights, putting the perfect 3-0 record on the line in an NE10 conference battle.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
For the second straight season, New Haven has won its first three games of the year, however it has been a few years since one can remember a Charger women's basketball team averaging 70+ points per game, but this year the Blue and Gold are doing just that and more, averaging 76.0 points in their first three games. Leading those efforts is graduate guard Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) who is averaging a conference-best 22 points per game, including a career-high 30 points in the season opener against Georgian Court. Her co-captain Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) has also opened 2022-23 the way she ended last season with three double doubles in as many games (17 now for her career), averaging 13.7 ppg and 13.3 rpg in the first three games. Deshaies currently leads the NE10 in rebounding and field goal percentage where she is a stifling 67 percent from the field (18-of027). Thru the first three games, the Chargers are outscoring their opponents by 22.3 points, outrebounding them by 13.3 and shooting 47 percent from the field while holding the opponents to 37 percent shooting.

SCOUTING SAINT ROSE
Just four games into the second season of her first collegiate head coaching position, Whitney Edwards has the Golden Knights out to a 2-2 record, including a 1-1 mark in the Northeast-10 after being picked to finish last in the league according to the head coaches.  Through its first four games, Saint Rose is averaging 74 points per game and outscoring their opponents by nearly nine points, with one of those two victories a 44-point win over Wilmington. For the season, Saint Rose is led by junior guard Isabella Sanchez who is scoring on a pace of 13.0 points per game, despite shooting just 29 percent for the season. Freshman guard Aniya McDonald-Perry has been making a statement early on for the Golden Knights, entering the midweek game averaging a double double with 12 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY vs SAINT ROSE

·         New Haven and Saint Rose meet for the 25th time in the history of the two programs on Tuesday

·         The Chargers hold a 14-10 record in the previous 24 games, having won five of the last seven against the Golden Knights

·         Saint Rose's most successful part of the series came in the early years when they rattled off five straight, which included sweeping the home-and-home series in 2010-11 and 2011-12

·         Most recently, New Haven swept the home-and-home in 2019-20 and last season split the series with each team winning on its own home court.

LAST TIME THEY MET
In the second of two meetings against the Golden Knights last season, the Chargers picked up their first win in the month of February with a 74-62 decision on their home court. Then junior guard Kameryn King (Old Saybrook, Conn./Mercy) had a breakout performance against the Golden Knights, setting a career-high with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting while going 6-of-7 from the free throw line. She also set personal bests, at the time, in rebounds and assists with seven each. Three other players would finish in double figures to join King, including DeBose and Deshaies who finished with 15 and 12, respectively. Deshaies also completed a double double in the victory, pulling down 12 boards.  As a team, New Haven shot 49.2 percent (30-of-61), including four three pointers.

NEXT TO JOIN THE CLUB
Graduate guard Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) finds herself next in line to join an elite club at the University of New Haven as she enters Tuesday night just 52 points shy of reaching the 1,000 point plateau. DeBose would be the 21st play all-time to reach that incredible feat and she would be the first to do so since Micah Wormack did in 2020. At her current rate of 22.0 ppg, DeBose could quickly climb the all-time scoring list and graduate among the top-10 in program history.

NEXT TIME OUT
After enjoying a break for Thanksgiving, New Haven will remain on the road and in conference play when they head to another state capital, this time around making the trek to Springfield, Mass. to take on the American International Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, November 30. Tipoff from Butova Gymnasium on the AIC campus is set for 5:30 p.m. in the front end of a doubleheader with the men's team. All of the action can be followed live on NE10 NOW.
