Since the start of their season on March 5, the Chargers have not stepped on their home field for an official contest. But now after going 3-0 to non-conference opponents Jefferson, Georgian Court, and Indiana, the Chargers are ready open NE10 play on familiar turf.Â
Scouting the Ravens (0-3, 0-1 NE10)
Franklin Pierce has been winless since they started their season back on March 5. They took on No. 14 Mercy and No. 15 Roberts Wesleyan on the road, then returned home to open NE10 play against Stonehill where they fell 22-11. They go back on the road again to face the undefeated New Haven Chargers.Â
Last season, the Ravens were introduced to a new head coach, Caitlin Sweeney. In the 2021 season they finished 7-3 and 6-2 in conference play with losses to Bentley and Assumption. They were eliminated in the semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Championship by Saint Anselm 17-14.Â
As Sweeney enters her second season empty handed, Franklin Pierce has been outscored 31-11 and averages 10.3 goals per contest. Leading the Ravens in scoring is senior attacker, Savannah Ernst, who has a total of eight across two games. She has a 92.3 shot on goal percentage. Graduate midfielder Jenna Cimbron leads the team in assists with four and is Franklin Pierces second-best scorer at six goals.Â
Scouting the Chargers (3-0, 0-0 NE10)
So far this season, the Chargers average 12.3 goals per game with Raegan Bailey (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) and Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) being New Haven's leading scorers at 12 and 10 goals each, respectively. Skelly leads the team with five assists so far this season, and in the 2021 season she led the team in both columns, goals and assists.
Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), the Blue and Gold's starting goalkeeper, has acquired 33 saves. In this last contest at IUP, she had 13 saves in front of the net for a career-high.Â
With three wins so far, the Chargers search for their fourth when they open conference play at home for their first time this season.Â
