In the nail-biting 8-9 loss to the Saint Rose Golden Knights on Saturday,
Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) scored her 100th point and has 102 throughout her career, as the Chargers take on the No. 5 Le Moyne Dolphins before returning to Kathy Zolad Stadium this coming Saturday.
Series History
New Haven has just a single victory when facing the Le Moyne Dolphins. On April 2, 2014 the Chargers visited Syracuse and rallied to a one-goal victory earning their first win against Le Moyne. Now, eight seasons and ten meetings later, the Blue and Gold haven't been able to out do them again. Since their first win over the Dolphins, the Chargers have been limited to single-digit scoring, with the exception of two games. In the ten meetings between the two schools since 2014, they have suffered losses each time by an average of 8.4 goals - in one meeting, at Le Moyne in the 2018 season, the Chargers suffered a 16-goal loss.Â
Scouting the Dolphins (5-2, 2-1 NE10)
Five of Le Moyne's seven contests so far this season have been against nationally-ranked opponents. They opened their season with a 10-9 victory over Mercy College who was ranked 14th at the time, and are now ranked No. 12/13. That was followed up with a meeting to the first-seeded Lindenwood University, in which the fourth-seeded Dolphins knocked off the Lions. Their first loss was to No. 2 University of Indianapolis. The four first games for the Dolphins were against top-competition and they finished with No. 17 Roberts Wesleyan. In their most recent matchup, they took on No. 15 Pace holding a two-goal edge in order to make themselves 5-2 on the season.Â
The dynamic duo of Jessica Meneilly and Erin McMullen, both attackers, combine for 44.5 percent of the teams total goals so far this season. Collectively the Dolphins have scored 101 total goals, their most in a single contest being their 23-9 victory at Franklin Pierce, but together these two upper-class athletes have scored 45 goals in just seven games; Meneilly leads with 25 goals and one assist, McMullen scored 20 goals and assisted ten. Meneilly, the scoring leader, is very accurate when shooting towards the net. Of her 41 SOG, she has scored 61 percent of the time; only four of her SOG have been saved.Â
Knocking off big, ranked opponents like Lindenwood, has prompted the Dolphins to trend upwards, now sitting fifth as they welcome the Chargers this Wednesday. Last week when they were just 3-2 they were in the sixth slot.Â
Scouting the Chargers (5-2, 1-2 NE10)Â
New haven started off their season on a 4-0 win streak which was ended by the No. 3 Adelphi Panthers. The Blue and Gold were only able to score six goals and the Panthers outdid them with nearly 20. After dominating non-conference Molloy 21-12, the Chargers set out for their third road contest. In Albany at the College of Saint Rose, the Chargers had a difficult time getting the ball in the back of the net as they out shot the Golden Knights 28-26. It wasn't the amount of shots that was the issue, it was more so the defensive ability standing in the way as the Saint Rose keeper acquired 11 saves.Â
After this loss, New Haven now ranks 21st as opposed to 18th which is where they've been at since the premiere of the 2022 campaign on March 5.Â
Skelly Hits 100-Point Milestone at Saint RoseÂ

Last season, Skelly led the Chargers in scoring with 36 goals. She also tied second on the roster last season for assists, her and
Emily Holland (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) each had seven a piece. This Saturday the senior midfielder scored three goals in the Chargers 8-9 loss to Saint Rose. Her first goal was scored just three minutes into the first quarter, assisted by
Raegan Bailey (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire). For Skelly, this was her 20th goal of the season, and her 100th career-point (goals and assists).Â
She went on to score two more times after reaching the big triple-digit milestone. Going into Wednesday, Skelly has 22 goals on the season, the second most scored by any Charger on the roster. In front of her with 23 is Bailey, who handed Skelly the pass for her 100th career-point.Â
The next big milestone will be 100 goals. Sitting at 90 throughout her career now, and an average of 3.14 goals per game this season, she is on track to hit that within the next 3-4 contests.
When and WhereÂ
Set for Wednesday afternoon, the Chargers will take a road trip up north with the final destination of Ted Grant Field on the campus of Le Moyne College. First draw is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on March 30. Up to date play-by-play stats will be available on NewHavenChargers.com as well as a live stream of the game on the NE10 Now Network.
