New Haven takes on the No. 18 Assumption Greyhounds in game two of their three-game how stretch this Tuesday after ending the week falling 9-14 to Southern New Hampshire.

Inside the Series
The Greyhounds put a damper on the Chargers 16 game winning streak that spread over 15 seasons. Assumption won their third-ever game against New Haven the last time the two met in 2019 in Worcester. They started off their series with the Blue and Gold dropping the first two decisions in 2001 and 2002.

In 2019 the No. 16/18 Chargers fell 16-10 at No. 20 Assumption. At the time Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) was a freshman, and set a career-high four goals, in their loss. Now Skelly is in her senior season and holds a high of seven goals in a single game.

Scouting the Greyhounds (8-5, 6-3 NE10)
Assumption is 4-1 for the month of April. Their only loss so far in the month has been at Le Moyne, who sits fourth in conference standings. The Greyhounds place two spots below Le Moyne in sixth. New Haven sits even further down in seventh. From Worcester, Assumption comes to West Haven winning their last two, scoring 18 goals each time.

In the Northeast-10, Assumption women's lacrosse stays a stat leader. Jenna Joseph, junior attack, is second in the conference with 32 assists, and third in points with 55. Alison Foley, graduate midfielder, ranks third in the conference in shots attempted at 79, for this category first place goes to the Blue and Gold's Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot).

In the net Allie Collins has the fifth best save percentage, 44.7. She is in second place, behind Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford), for saves deflecting 110 shots on goal. Last week in the Greyhounds two wins, Collins combined for 17 saves.

On the road, Assumption is 6-2. The Greyhounds average 31.6 shots and 14.54 goals per game. On free position attempts they are 30-88, Ella Tenney and Joseph each have scored six free position goals, however Alison Foley is the teammate who finds herself with the ball in her stick at the eight meter arc. She has 23 free position attempts, but has only scored on five of them.

Leading the Greyhounds is Courtney Dincecco who is in her second year as head coach at Assumption. She was brought in January of 2021 and finished her inaugural season 8-4, 7-3 in the conference.

Scouting the Chargers (8-5, 4-5 NE10)
After splitting last week 1-1, New Haven's ranking has moved down to 23rd. On Wednesday the Chargers traveled just down the road to Southern Connecticut for a meeting with the Owls. They took home a 12-10 victory and started preparing for their next one, Southern New Hampshire on Saturday.

The Penmen came out of the second half strong on offense, which turned the Chargers lead at the half into a five-goal fall. Helping New Haven on scoring was Marina Skelly (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) who shot three in the back of the net. Cameryn Antler (Hebron, Conn./Mercy) and Raegan Bailey (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) each had two.

For the second time this season, Bailey nabbed NE10 Rookie of the Week. She was named in week six, alongside Gabby Buscemi (East Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) who had earned Goalkeeper of the Week, and now for week eight. Over the two games last week, Bailey sacred six goals, won 10 draw controls in the circle, and scooped five ground balls.

Skelly was named to this weeks NE10 Honor Roll for her stellar performance in both of last weeks games. Including both Southern Connecticut and Southern New Hampshire, Skelly totaled ten points coming off eight goals and two assists. On top of her five goals up the road at Jess Dow Field, she added three ground balls and also caused a turnover.
