The 2022 campaign will kick off in the month of August for the first time since the 2018 season and will do so with the same opponent as they saw that year, welcoming the Bridgeport Purple Knights to West Haven for the annual meeting on Thursday, August 25 under the lights. This past fall, the Chargers took a 4-3 decision over their I-95 rival as both teams returned to the field for the first time since the CoVID-19 pandemic shutdown.

The Bridgeport match-up is the first of four non-conference contests on the docket in 2022 with three of those to take place at Kathy Zolad Stadium. The lone non-league game to take place on the road will be the second game of the year when the Chargers are slated to travel to Long Island for a date with he Mercy Mavericks (Aug. 28).

Returning to West Haven, the Chargers will welcome back-to-back non-conference opponents Dominican (Sep. 3) and Nyack (Sep. 6) for the final tests before opening Northeast-10 action on the road at Saint Anselm. That NE10 opener is scheduled for Saturday, September 10 at Melucci Field in Manchester, N.H.

The conference home opener will be the first of back-to-back home games for the Chargers as they will welcome American International (Sep. 17) for a weekend match-up before hosting Assumption on Tuesday, September 20, both coming under the lights at Kathy Zolad Stadium.

A quick road trip will follow on Saturday, September 24 as the Blue and Gold head back to New Hampshire, this time to Rindge where they will face the Franklin Pierce Ravens. That trip will be followed by three-straight home games, the first of which will close out the month of September on Wednesday, Sep.28 as the Charges welcome Saint Rose to town.

The month of October will begin with a visit from Southern New Hampshire on October 1 before hosting another rivalry battle, this time against the crosstown foe Southern Connecticut State for the battle of the Elm City. Both of the early October home matches are slated for 4:00 p.m. starts.

That homestand is followed by the final road trip in the regular season with back-to-back trips to the Empire State. The first will be longest trip of the season as the Chargers head to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on Le Moyne on Saturday, October 8. The final road contest of the year will pit New Haven against Adelphi as they head back to Long Island for the second time to meet the Panthers at Motamed Field in Garden City, N.Y.

The final two games of the regular season will each come on the weekend as the Chargers return from that road trip to host Bentley on Saturday, October 15 before closing out the regular season on Saturday, October 22 with a visit from Saint Michael's. Each of the final two games will come under the lights with 7:00 p.m. opening kickoffs.

The top eight teams in the conference standings following the regular season will qualify for the NE10 Championship, which opens with a quarterfinal match-up on Oct. 29 at the home sites of the four highest seeds. The semifinal and championship matches will also take place at home sites on Nov. 2 and Nov. 5, respectively.

The NCAA Division II Championship will begin with First and Second Round games scheduled to take place November 10-12 at 16 campus sites determined by the selection committee. The third and quarterfinal rounds will also take place at four campus sites with action taking place between November 17-19. The season will culminate with the NCAA Semifinals and Championship being contested December. 1-3 at Interbay Stadium on the campus of Seattle Pacific University.
