WHAT'S ON TAP
Following a 2-0 week with wins over Bentley and Pace, the Chargers look ahead at NE10 teams they have already met once this season. First up in that department will be a trip to Garden City to take on the Adelphi Panthers with tip off set for 5:30 p.m. at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
Looking for its longest win streak for the season at four-straight, New Haven needs to continue to rely on a defense that is holding opponents to just 59.3 points per game, while keeping confidence in their shooting ability that is currently 22nd best in the nation as they are connecting on 44.7 percent of their attempts. Additionally, New Haven needs to continue to focus on the boards where they lead the NE10 and are 17th in the country with their average of 8.9 rebounds more than their opponents. Leading the efforts is graduate guard Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) who is averaging 16.8 points per game, third in the NE10, including a career-high 30 points in the season opener against Georgian Court. Her co-captain Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) has both offense and defense on her mind as she is second on the team averaging 13.7 ppg, while one of two players in the NE10 who is averaging a double double as she is pulling down 10.3 rebounds per outing, second best in the NE10. In addition, Deshaies leads all NE10 players and is fourth in the nation with her 65% shooting percentage (98-of-151) with all of her points coming from inside the three-point arc. Rounding out the leading scorers for the Blue and Gold is senior point guard Kameryn King (Old Saybrook, Conn./Mercy) who is averaging 9.8 ppg, while leading the team with 72 assists, with her 4.8 assists per game average second best in the conference.
SCOUTING ADELPHI
The Panthers broke up back-to-back losses with a weekend road win over Saint Michael's before returning home to host the Chargers in a mid-week showdown. For the season, the Panthers are averaging 65.2 points per game, just shy of their opponents 65.8 ppg. Individually, it is graduate guard Ty'zhea Hawkins who leads the team with her average of 18.6 ppg, which is the best among all NE10 players heading into Tuesday night. Hawkins is shooting 45.1 percent from the field (121-of-268) while not much of a threat outside of the arc with just 13 three pointers. She also leads the team with 48 assists and is second with 21 steals. The only other Panther averaging double figures in the scoring column is Jenna Jordan who is putting up 13.8 ppg, with all of her 235 points coming inside the arc where she is 92-of-199 for a team-high 46.2 percent.
