THE LEAD
Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, New Haven needs to sweep its final two games to take over third place in the NE10 standings and earn itself a bye in the opening round of the championship next weekend. It will be a tough task for the Chargers, needing to get the first of those last two wins in its longest road trip of the regular season heading to Syracuse to take on Le Moyne on Saturday. Tipoff in the NE10 battle is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at Ted Grant Court.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS
With its penultimate game of the regular season on the docket this afternoon, New Haven relies heavily on its starting five who are all averaging more than 30 minutes per game, with three of the five averaging in double figures and the five combined providing 91% of the total scoring (1,501-of-1,642 total points). Leading the team individually is graduate guard Quashawn Lane (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic Academy) who has scored in double figures in all but two games this season, moving into the lead with his 14.8 ppg average. In addition, Lane leads the team with 87 assists and 37 steals. tied with Lane is senior transfer Ty Perry (Boston, Mass./Brighton) who is also averaging 14.8 ppg after finishing his seventh game with 20+ last time out against Staten Island. Junior Davontrey Thomas (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) rounds out the top three with a 12.6 ppg average, including leading the team from beyond the arc with 59 three pointers. Rounding out the starting five is Victor Olawoye (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont Memorial High School) and Majur Majak (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./) who average 9.5 and 7.3 ppg, respectively. Among the five, Majak leads the team and the NE10 with an impressive 62.6 percent (72-of-115) shooting from the field, while Lane is also among the best in the league at 53.1 percent (129-of-243). Majak is also the NE10's leading shot blocker with 68 stuffed attempts, which also ranks him fourth nationally in total blocks.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Following a loss to Saint Michael's last time out, the Dolphins look to rebound in their final game of the regular season on Saturday against the Chargers. A win for the Dolphins would, for the most part, lock up fifth place in the standings heading into the postseason. For the year, Le Moyne is outscoring its opponents but just over two points per game, averaging 72.9 ppg which is the fifth highest point total in the league. Individually, Luke Sutherland is one of two players averaging double figures with his team-best 12.0 ppg, while Isaiah Salter is right on his heels at 11.9 ppg.
SERIES HISTORY vs LE MOYNE
·        New Haven and Le Moyne meet for the 44th time in the history of the two programs.
·        Le Moyne holds an 26-17 advantage in the previous 43 games, including a 69-50 New Haven win earlier this season.
