WHAT'S ON TAP
A top-12 shooting team and top-11 rebounding team in the nation, New Haven needs to keep confidence in everything they have done during their current six-game win streak when they welcome a top-3 team in the NE10 to Charger Gym this weekend in American International. Tip off in the NE10 battle is set for 1:30 p.m. with the Chargers honoring seven seniors prior to the game.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
Looking to extend its longest win streak of the season, currently at six-straight, New Haven needs to continue to rely on a defense that is holding opponents to just 58.7 points per game, while keeping confidence in its shooting where it is currently 12th in NCAA Division II with its 45.9 percent from the field. Leading the way is Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) who is averaging 16.3 points per game, fourth in the NE10, including a career-high 30 points in the season opener against Georgian Court. Her co-captain Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) has both offense and defense on her mind as she is second on the team averaging 13.9 ppg, while one of two players in the NE10 who is averaging a double double as she is pulling down 10.3 rebounds per outing, second best in the NE10. In addition, Deshaies leads all NE10 players and is fourth in the nation with her 65% shooting percentage (120-of-186) with all of her points coming from inside the three-point arc. Rounding out the leading scorers for the Blue and Gold is senior point guard Kameryn King (Old Saybrook, Conn./Mercy) who is averaging 9.9 ppg, while leading the team with 90 assists, with her 5.0 assists per game average leading the conference.

SCOUTING AMERICAN INT'L
One of two teams tied for third place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings, American International is riding an eight game win streak into Saturday afternoon, with six of those eight wins coming in NE10 play. Capping off that current win streak was an upset win over No. 13 Assumption on Wednesday night 53-49, just the third loss of the season for the Greyhounds. Even with their 14-7 overall record, 10-4 in NE10 play, the Yellow Jackets are only averaging 60.1 points per game which is 10th out of 13 teams in the NE10. Defensively, the Yellow Jackets are holding teams to just 59.8, however that average is middle of the pack in the NE10 at seventh. For the year, Taylor Tomlinson enters as the leading scorer, putting up 16.2 points per game. The post player also leads the team in rebounding with her 6.4 per game average and enters with 27 blocks which is second most in the conference.

SERIES HISTORY vs AIC

·         New Haven and American International meet for the 46th time in the history of the two programs on Wednesday

·         The Chargers hold a 23-22 record in the previous 45 games, having won seven of the last nine against the Yellow Jackets

·         AIC's most successful part of the series came in the early 1990'sand then again when the series returned in the early 2000's with the Yellow Jackets winning 11 straight.

·         Earlier this season, the Yellow Jackets took a 71-62 victory on their home court to begin the home-and-home series.

THE FIRST TIME VS AIC
Returning to the court for the first time in eight days, the New Haven women's basketball team dropped a 71-62 road decision to American International. Leading the Blue and Gold on the night was senior Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) who was one of three Chargers to finish in double figures with 18 points, while breaking her season-long double double streak, closing out the night with seven boards. Joining Deshaies in leading the Chargers was graduate student Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) with 16 points and senior Marigona Bacaliu (Worcester, Mass./Putnam Science Academy) with 15. As a team, New Haven finished the game shooting 44 percent (23-of-52) with five of those buckets from outside the arc. They also added 11 points at the free throw line, while once again outrebounding their opponent 45-26.

OFFENSIVE EFFICIENCY
Going into the weekend match-up against Franklin Pierce, the New Haven women's basketball team currently leads all NE10 teams and is 12th in all of NCAA Division II with their 45.9 percent shooting average, connecting on 467-1,017 total attempts. Leading the way individually is senior Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) who leads the NE10 and is fourth in the nation at 65% (120-of-186). Included among the Chargers 467 total field goals are 102 three pointers, on 291 attempts, for a 35.1 percent average which leads the NE10. Currently, Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) leads the team with 40 three pointers, but keep an eye on freshman Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) who found her groove against Dominican when she went 7-of-9 from beyond the arc and now provides an efficient option off the bench for the Blue and Gold.

NEXT TIME OUT
The Chargers close out their longest homestand of the season with the third straight game on their home court Tuesday night when they welcome the Saint Michael's Purple Knights to West Haven. The contest is also the final in a series of 10 straight in conference play, as they'll step aside from NE10 action for a quick trip to Chestnut Hill following. The NE10 contest vs Saint Michael's is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start on February 7, with all of the action available live on the
