MANSFIELD, Mass. – The University of New Haven Men's Track and Field athlete J'Quan Athis (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) took home conference Field Rookie of the Week following his performance this past weekend at the TCNJ Invitational Meet in Ewing, New Jersey.

Athis in the throwing circle finished fifth overall in Sho tput with a final mark of 13.80 meters, sixth in Discuss with the best mark of 40.39m, and a tenth best mark in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 41.25m. Athis coming off a strong indoor season returned to form in the outdoor season and with his strong performance at the meet he looks to build upon his three top-ten finishes as he works towards the conference championships.

The Chargers return to the track next week closer to home as they will stay in the Nutmeg state and travel to New London to compete at the Silfen Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 14,15. With the conference championship on the horizon, New Haven looks to build the momentum from this meet into the next and into the championships.
