Abunar Leads Pack; Takes Gold at Bruce Kirsch

HOPKINTON, N.H. – Returning to the track, the University of New Haven Men's Cross Country team traveled north to New Hampshire to compete at the Bruce Kirsch Cross Country Cup where New Haven was one of 13 teams competing at the meet.

 

Mohammed Abunar (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) continued to set the pace for the field and for New Haven as Abunar finished sixth overall but was the winner as he was the first Division II runner to cross the finish line with a time of 25:23.0 to claim the medal for the blue and gold.

 

Finishing second for the Chargers, Liam Taggart (Wakefiled, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) finished 52 overall crossing in 27:31.3. William Brown (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) finished third overall for the Chargers and 55 overall coming across the finish line in 27:47.5.

 

Jacob Carson (Seymour, Conn./Notre Dame (West Haven)) finished fourth for the Chargers and 58 overall in the meet crossing with a final time of 28:16.9. Rounding out the Chargers top five was James Comisky (Milford, Mass./Milford) who finished 61 overall and crossed with a final time of 28:22.2.

The Chargers now completing the regular season return to work when they travel back to New Hampshire to compete at the the NE10 Conference championships once again at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds where New Haven will compete for a conference crown. The Championships will be on Sunday October 27 at the Hopkinton State Fair Grounds with the race beginning at 11:00 AM.
