SACRAMENTO, Cali. – After being the first Charger in two decades to earn a spot at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship, Mohammed Abunar (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) represented the University of New Haven Men's Cross Country Team at the Championships in Sacramento, California.
Abunar, who finished eighth overall at the NCAA East Regional Championship earned his spot to compete at the Championships that were being held at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course
Abunar, who had set the pace all year for the Chargers set the bar high at the championships, running at a 5:16 pace, finishing his first split under three minutes. Overall, Abunar would cross with a final time of 32:41.4 finishing 206 overall in the Championship.
The junior from Trumbull, Connecticut looks now to the indoor and outdoor seasons, but has eyes on the 2025 Cross Country season where Abunar will look to make a return to the NCAA Championships and improve his placing while adding more names to the list of New Haven runners at the Championships.
