FULL NE10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Following a week where he added seven points to his season total, senior Pau Santanach (Barcelona, Spain/Collegi CreaNova) joined two of his teammates in securing a weekly honor as he was tabbed the Northeast-10 Player of the Week as announced by the league.
Santanach joins freshman David Huang (China/Nobel British International School), who has twice been named the NE10 Rookie of the Week, and graduate goalie Archie Watts (Bristol, England/SGS College) who was named Goalkeeper of the Week back on September16, while this is the second straight week a Charger has been honors following Huang's second honor of the year coming last Monday.
Overall, Santanach led the Chargers to a 2-0 week with wins over American International and Assumption with a team-high three goals and an assist, as he played a part in every goal scored by the Chargers last week. Two of his three goals went in the books as the game-winning tallies.
The native of Barcelona, Spain opened up his week with both goals in a 2-1 home win over the Yellow Jackets. He would then net the game winner just 15 seconds after the Yellow Jackets knotted the score giving the capacity crowd at Kathy Zolad Stadium something to scream about.
Over the weekend he would help open up the Chargers scoring against Assumption, providing a pass across the front of the box that found the head of a diving Adam Lindstrom (Orbero, Sweden/Grillska Gymnasiet) to put the Blue and Gold on the board. About 10 minutes after the Greyhounds evened things up in the second half, Santanach struck again, this time using his header to beat the outstretched arms of the Greyhounds keeper just inside the upright.
For the season, Santanach leads the Chargers with 11 points on a team-high five goals and his lone assist from this week. His five goals are tied for the second most in the NE10, while his 11 points is also among the top-10 in the league.
