HOPKINTON, N.H. – Returning to the track, the University of New Haven Women's Cross Country team returned to New Hampshire to compete for a conference crown at the Northeast 10 Cross Country Championships where New Haven was one of 11 teams competing at the meet.
April Mauceri (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) continued to set the pace for New Haven as Mauceri finished ninth overall with a final time of 22:56.3 and earning herself a spot on the All- Conference second team.
Finishing second for the Chargers, Elsie Kaas (Elverson, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finished 30 overall crossing in 24:46.8. Violet Coyle (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay) finished third overall for the Chargers and 36 overall coming across the finish line in 25:10.4.
Josie Thompson (Towson, Md./Carver Center for Arts & Technology) finished 53 overall and crossed with a final time of 26:15.0 finished fourth overall for the Chargers ahead of teammate, Bernadette Karpel (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) who finished 56 overall with a final time of 26:20.4.
Overall the Chargers finished eighth of the 11 teams competing in the Championship.
The Chargers, now completing their first postseason meet, return to the course to compete at the NCAA Division II East Region Championship in Rochester, New York on Saturday, November 9 at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails with the race beginning at 12:00 PM.
