FULL CSC ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT RELEASE
WEST HAVEN, Conn. – Combining success in the classroom with success on the soccer pitch, three members of the New Haven men's soccer team added to the honors on the year earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District accolades as announced by the organization.
Among the three men's soccer players honored is senior captain Adam Lindstrom (Orbero, Sweden/Grillska Gymnasiet), junior Oskar Kvarnback (Stockholm, Sweden/Bromma Gymnasium) and sophomore Saar Almoznino (Jerusalem, Israel/Hebrew Gymnasium).
A national security, intelligence analysis major with a 3.53 cumulative grade point average, Lindstrom finished the season second on the team with 13 points on five goals and three assists. His five goals were also second on the team, with one of those a game-winning tally.
Kvarnback, a business management major with a 3.92 cumulative GPA, played in all 20 games, finishing the season with a pair of goals for four points, with one of those goals the game-winning score in a 1-0 shutout of Franklin Pierce in the NE10 Championship semifinals.
Am accounting major with a 3.78 cumulative GPA, Almoznino started 14 of 17 games played as a key part of the Chargers defense. In addition to his leadership on the back line, he also scored one goal on the season, which came in a 4-1 non-conference win over Staten Island.
The New Haven men's soccer team closed out the 2024 campaign with a 12-4-4 overall record and an 5-2-2 mark in the Northeast-10 Conference, advancing to the NE10 Championship game for the first time in program history. The Blue and Gold went on to earn an at-large berth in the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in 40 years, falling in a penalty kick shootout to Concord in the opening round. Â
College Sports Communicators releases an Academic All-America team in nine sports and an at-large category, honoring student-athletes who perform at an elite level in their chosen sport and in the classroom. Nominated by member sports information directors or athletic communications staff at each institution, the CSC Academic All-America program recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot which will honor student-athletes on a first, second and third team with the national release scheduled for December 10.
