STATEN ISLAND, New York. – In their final meet ahead of the Northeast 10 Conference Championships, the University of New Haven Men's Track and Field Team competed at the Fastrack National Invitational Meet looking to improve their seeds in the conference.
Jacky Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) climbed into second place for the men's triple jump in the conference with a mark of 13.83m, passing his brother Jackson Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) in the standings. Heading into the championships the blue and gold post the top five marks in the triple jump, and eight in the top 15 ahead of the championships.
The Distance Medley Relay team of Michael Celatka (Ashland, Mass./Ashland), Justin Ortiz (Bethpage, N.Y./Island Trees), Elijah Espinal (Hamden, Conn./Hamden), and Ryan Friedman (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) moved into third in the conference crossing with their time of 12:11.34.
Jordan Emile (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) ran a season best in the 60m Hurdles crossing with a time of 8.55 moving him to sixth in the conference.
Lastly, Nile Colson (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) ran a season-best in the 200m dash crossing with a time of 22.62 moving him to sixth in the conference tied with teammate Jason Lorent (Shelton, Conn./Shelton).
The blue and gold now turn their attention to the conference championships where the teams look to build upon their previous year's success in the hunt for a conference crown. After a pair of meets that saw the Chargers climb up the standing New Haven looks to continue on the trend finding their stride at the right time. The NE10 Championships begin Friday, February 16, and conclude on Saturday, February 17. The Championships will be held in Boston Mass. at The Track at New Balance.
