WHAT'S ON TAP
For the first time in February the New Haven women's basketball team will make an appearance at the Hazell Athletic Center as they welcome Saint Michael's to West Haven for the first of just three home games in the entire month. New Haven looks to snap a six-game skid against the Purple Knights while graduate post player Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) is quickly approaching another milestone as she stands just 30 rebounds shy of becoming just the fourth player in program history to pull down at least 1,000 rebounds.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
A conference leading, and top-20 in the nation, 10 double doubles from graduate post player Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) and she is one of the key leaders for the Chargers, averaging 12.3 points and an NE10 leading 10.8 rebounds. Also on a bit of a hot streak is junior guard Charlotte Bassett (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) who has scored in double figures in 10 of the last 15 games, including a career-high 22 points against Georgian Court and her first double double (15 points, 10 rebounds) against Franklin Pierce. Her recent success has also moved her up the scoring column, currently third on the team with an average of 9.6 ppg. Rounding out the trio of top scorers is sophomore Lindsay Hogan (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) who has helped fill the void left by the loss of two of the top three scorers from a year ago as she is averaging 10.2 points per game. The Chargers have relied on the experience of senior Gabrielle Stickle (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) to run the offense and she has not disappointed, dishing out 64 assists and is 7th in the NE10 with 3.2 per game. Included for Stickle is a pair of games with a career-high eight assists versus Goldey-Beacom and Georgian Court. As a team, New Haven is averaging 56.7 points per game, scoring 80+ in the first two games of the season, after hitting that scoring mark just once all of last season. All combined, the Chargers are shooting 38.7 percent (433-1,118) as a team, led by Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) who is shooting 49.1 percent from the field (106-216).

SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S
Struggling to find the win column in NE10 play, Saint Michael's has lost its last five games and 11 of its last 12 with the lone win in that stretch its only conference victory of the season, a 62-59 decision over Adelphi. As a team, the Purple Knights have struggled to find the scoring column, averaging just 50.8 ppg combined and being outscored by just shy of 13 points (12.8) per game. The Purple Knights are also being outmatched on the boards where they are surrendering 6.1 more rebounds on average to their opponents. As a team, Saint Michael's is shooting 32 percent from the field (400-1,249) which includes a 25.1 percent effort from beyond the arc (119-of-475). Individually, Saint Michael's is led by Amber Furch who is the only player on the roster to average double figures with her 10.2 ppg in the scoring column. The leading outside threat for Saint Michael's, exactly half of her 72 total field goals have come from outside the arc. In addition, she is averaging 3.5 rebounds per game and dished out 32 assists and has 21 steals to her credit.

SERIES HISTORY vs SAINT MICHAEL'S

·        New Haven and Saint Michael's meet for the 25th time in the history of the two programs.

·        New Haven holds a 15-9 record in the previous 24 games, including winning the last 12 straight meetings.

·        New Haven opened up the series with a 10-point victory back in February of 1983.

·        Last season, the Chargers continued their current win streak in the series with a nine-point triumph.

·        In the current 12-game win streak, New Haven has won by double figures in all but two games and both of those were nine-point victories.

NEXT TIME OUT
