MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Coming back from their trip to Puerto Rico where the University of New Haven Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams competed during Spring Break under the sun they returned to Connecticut where they had to battle the elements at the J Elmer Swanson Spring Classic in Middletown Conn.
Aniya Bush (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) finished second overall in the 100m dash crossing with a time of 16.51. Bush followed that up with a second place finish in the same pit where she jumped 5.10m in the long jump on her second jump of the event as she grabbed a pair of second place finishes at the meet.
Isabelle Robinson (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) finished second overall in shot put as Robinson continued her success from the circle. After an opening toss of 11.55m she followed it up with a meet second best throw of 12.05m.
Christopher Gregory took home the Chargers first win of the meet in the pole vault where he cleared the first two heights on his first attempts. On his third attempt, Gregory cleared 1.85m that finished him with the best height of the meet. Gregory went on and finished second overall in the 200m dash where he crossed in 23.08.
Ryan Williams (Malverne, N.Y./Valley Stream North) finished third overall in the 400m dash running a 52.35 in the event.
Matthew Steele (North Kingstown, R.I./Bishop Hendricken) finished second overall in the triple jump where he needed one jump to get his mark, jumping 13.45m finishing him second overall.
After battling the rain and wind at the meet the Chargers look for better weather next week when they travel to Mahwah, New Jersey to compete at the Ramapo College Track and Field Invitational that begins on Friday March 29 and concludes on Saturday March 30.
