NEW LONDON, Conn. – Off their dominant performance at the Ramapo Invitational, the University of New Haven Men's and Women's Track and Field Team's stayed in the nutmeg state as they traveled to New London to compete at the Silfen Invitational.
Kenneth Holland (Circleville, N.Y./Pine Bush) finished second overall in the 100m dash crossing with a time of 11.08. Holland would follow up his second place finish with a third place finish in the 200m crossing in 22.68.
Savannah Sistrunk (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences) continued with her success on the track crossing with a third place time of 12.60.
Jordan Emile (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) took home the Chargers first win of the meet in the 400m hurdles crossing with a winning time of 57.38. He would also add a second place overall finish in the 110m hurdles crossing with a time of 15.20.
The Blue and Gold finished second and third overall in the women's hammer throw as Isabelle Robinson (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) finished second overall in the event with a mark of 43.10m ahead of teammate Jalynn McCown (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) who finished third with a mark of 42.20m. Robinson would also finish third overall in the shot put, with a mark of 11.12m.
Jacky Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) added a win for the blue and gold in the high jump clearing 1.92m. He would also add another win in the sand pit as he jumped a winning mark of 6.79m. Marescot would beat teammate Jonathan Cineus (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) who finished third overall in the event with a jump of 6.46m. Cineus would add a second-place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 13.63m.
Gabrielle Teel (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) took home the Chargers first win for the women in the long jump, where she jumped a winning mark of 5.30m. She added her second win of the meet in the sand pit, winning the triple jump with a mark of 11.36m.
J'Quan Athis (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) finished third overall in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.86m.
The men's 4x800m relay team of Dathan Chann (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King), Jonathan Parmelee (Piscataway, N.J./Saint Joseph), Jason Carson, and Jaden Sampson (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South), finished second overall crossing with a final time of 8:58.83.
The women's 4x800m relay team also added a second place finish in the event as Angelina Schilling (Sewell, N.J./Deptford Township), Bernadette Karpel (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse), Sarah Rutledge (), and Elise Kaas crossed with a time of 10:46.73.
New Haven will stay in Connecticut as they travel to Southern Connecticut State University to compete at the Jack Maloney Invitational on Saturday, April 20 that begins at 10:00 a.m. All updates, schedules, and post-game recaps for the team will be available at Newhavenchargers.com.
