WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The accolades continued to pile up for the University of New Haven Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams after the New England Championships where 11 athletes earned All New England Accolades highlighted by three All New England Champions.
Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) earned a pair of All New England Accolades as the senior finished second overall in long jump with a mark of 5.98m and followed that up with a win in the triple jump, where she finished with a winning mark of 12.28m to be named All New England in both events.
Jonathan Cineus (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) led the Chargers sweep of the podium in the triple jump where Cineus, Jacky Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo), and Jackson Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) all medaled and earned All New England in the event. Cineus jumped a winning mark of 14.59m ahead of Jacky Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo), 14.46m, and Jackson Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) 14.44 as each medaled the event.
Jada Kamtha (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls) earned All New England in the 100m Hurdles taking home the bronze medal in the event with a time of 14.03.
Savannah Sistrunk (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences) earned All New England in the 100m dash as she took home the bronze medal in the event with a time of 12.10.
The women's 4x400m relay earned All New England accolades as the team of Niquelle Johnson (Trumbull, Conn./Northeastern Academy), Deja Harris, Micaela Owen (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross), and Savannah Sistrunk (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences) finished sixth overall with a final time of 4:03.
In addition the women's 4x100m relay team also earned All New England honors as Deja Harris, Jada Kamtha (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls), Aniya Bush (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown), and Savannah Sistrunk (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences) finished sixth overall with a time of 48.7 to earn the honors.
Jordan Emile (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) earned All New England honors in the 100m hurdles finishing sixth overall with a final time of 14.79.
After winning gold at the conference championships, Jacky Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) added more gold to his season as he jumped another personal record in the long jump, jumping a winning mark of 7.30m in the event to take the Gold and earn All New England honors.
