FULL USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Just a few weeks removed from earning the Northeast-10 Conference Sport Excellence Award, graduate jumper Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) secured another academic honor as she was named All-Academic, while leading her team to a United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Academic Team Award.
To be honored with a Team Academic Award a program must maintain a cumulative grade point average for all eligible student-athletes on the NCAA Squad List for both indoor and outdoor track and field of 3.0 or hither on a 4.0 scale. The Chargers current cumulative grade point average equals 3.14 and is among seven schools from the Northeast-10 Conference to earn the honor.
Individually, Washington, who is pursuing her Doctorate in Health Sciences, holds a 3.91 cumulative grade point average as a graduate student after concluding her undergraduate degree with a 3.62 cumulative grade point average. To be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree, an individual must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale through the end of the most recent semester of competition. Additionally, student-athletes must have completed at least 24 semester honors through the most recent completed semester.
