FULL RESULTS
HARTFORD, Conn. – Opening of the 2024 season the University of New Haven Men's Cross Country team stayed in the Nutmeg State as they traveled north to the capital to compete at the University of Hartford Invitational where the team finished third overall among the 12 teams that attended.
Opening up the season strong, Mohammed Abunar (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) led the pack of Chargers as he finished fifth overall in the field crossing with a final time of 16:40.1 coming in under a minute behind the race leader.
Finishing second for the Chargers, Liam Taggart (Wakefiled, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) finished 10 overall as the freshman made his debut for the blue and gold crossing with a final time of 16:51.5, to set the tone for his first year of competition. Fellow freshman Connor Knee (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) finished with the Charger's third-best time and the 25 overall time as Knee crossed in 17:32.3.
James Comisky (Milford, Mass./Milford) who finished 26 overall crossed with the blue and gold fourth fastest time as the junior came in a second behind freshman teammate, Knee, as Comisky crossed with his time of 17:33.1.
Rounding out the Charger's top five was William Brown (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) who finished 30 overall for the meet as the senior came across the line in 17:44.4 as the blue and gold claimed a top three finish at the invitational.
The Chargers remain in the Nutmeg state when they return to action, and make a shorter road trip to Middletown Connecticut, to compete at the Wesleyan Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan College on Saturday, September 21 with runners leaving the line at 10:30 a.m. All updates, schedules, and post-meet recaps for the team will be available at NewHavenChargers.com.
