NEW HAVEN, CT – The University of New Haven Chargers split the program with some making the quick trip to Yale to participate in the Mark Young Invitational and others traveling to Piscataway, NJ for the Rutgers Relays.
At Yale, in the men's long jump event,
Daniel Enrico (Milford, Conn./Foran) placed fourth,
Luis Calderon (/) placed sixth,
Jamari Ellerbe-Cundiff (Brockton, Mass./Southeastern Regional) slotted eighth, and
Akin Akinwunmi (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) rounded out the top ten.
Wilnye Joseph (Naugatuck, Conn./Naugatuck) finished third in women's high jump.
Elise Kase and
Violet Coyle (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay) finished 15th and 16th in the women's 1500m with
Bernadette Karpel (New Haven, Conn./Hillhouse) close behind at 19th. On the men's side,
Liam Taggart (Wakefiled, Mass./Wakefield Memorial) finished 15th while
William Brown (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area),
Jacob Carson (Seymour, Conn./Notre Dame (West Haven)), and
Josiah Osuji (Randolh, Mass./Randolph) took 17th, 18th, and 19th, respectively.
Calderon placed second in men's triple jump with Enrico right behind in third. Akinwunmi finished fourth, close behind his teammates.
At Rutgers, Jordan Dely broke the school record for men's 110m hurdles, finishing in 14.09 seconds.
Jada Kamtha (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls) also set a school record for women's 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 13.98 seconds.
D'Jior Delliser and Kamtha placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in women's long jump. Delisser also finished 11th in women's high jump.
Gabrielle Teel (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland) was the runner-up in the women's triple jump, finishing second to Faith Bethea.
Aniya Bush (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) finished eighth in the event.
