WEST HAVEN, Conn. -- The NEC announced its weekly award winners for men's soccer on Monday afternoon. New Haven Men's Soccer goalkeeper Alessandro Bizzini (Imola Bologna, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Valeriani) was recognized as the NEC's Player of the Week followng back-to-back shutouts.

Bizzini was a brick wall in goal last week as New Haven remained unbeaten in its inaugural Division I season. The graduate goalie stopped 13 shots in a pair of shutouts. Bizzini started off the week with a career-high eight saves on the road against ACC foe Syracuse on Monday night. The Orange fired off 22 shots as Bizzini stopped all the ones on target, including a diving penalty kick save in the second minute. The native of Italy followed up with another stellar performance between the posts on Saturday night against George Washington. He owns the best save percentage in the conference (.944) and ranks second in GAA (0.333). Bizzini is the third Charger to garner NEC Player of the Week accolades this season.
