ELLICOTT CITY, Md. – New Haven Golf participated in its first NEC Championship Tournament over the last two weekends as the women's team began play on Friday, Apr. 17, and the men's team on Friday, Apr. 24.
Beginning with the women, New Haven finished 10th overall in the tournament. The Blue & Gold saw three golfers finish inside the top 40, as
Gabriela Aya (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Anglo Colobiano) (T21),
Erin Earl (London, England/Saffron Walden County Day) (35), and
Ella Hammond-Baveystock (Crowthorne, United Kingdom/Wellington College) (38) all produced strong showings to cap off the year. Aya finished +30, shooting +10 in all three rounds. Earl finished +38, shooting a +11 in round one, +12 in round two, and ending her tournament with a +15 in the final round. Hammond-Baveystock's +40 was compiled by a round one score of +13, a second-round total of +11, and a final-round output of +16.
On the men's side, a tie for fifth place was powered by a seventh-place individual finish by
Hermann Gavilan (Valencia, Spain). Gavilan finished +4 for the weekend after a first-round score of +4, followed by a -3, and +3, respectively.
Tommaso Rossin (Milan, Italy/Istituto Leonardo Da Vinci) finished just outside the top 10, as he tied for 12th, shooting a +6. Rossin fired +3, +1, and +2 to end his first year competing with the Blue & Gold.
Aaron Browning (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson) ended tied for 30th as he shot +12 via three rounds of +4.
