OPENING TIP
After going 5-0 in the month of December, New Haven will ring in the new decade with a non-conference matchup against Goldey-Beacom on Thursday, January 2.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-   New Haven is 4-1 all-time against the Lightning, having won both of the previous matchups at Charger Gymnasium, and the last two overall in the series.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
-   Currently tied for the second-best start in program history at 9-1, New Haven just finished off a 5-0 month of December, and carries a nine-game home court winning streak into the new decade.
 
-   A major reason for the team's success had been its stout defense, which is limiting opponents to a conference-low 51.5 points per game. New Haven is also leading the NE10 in field goal percentage defense (.332) and is fifth in 3pt FG% defense at 29.0 percent.
 
-  The Chargers have seen a jump in offensive production over their last four games, scoring at least 65 points in four straight games. Previously, the team only cracked the 60-point plateau twice through their first six games. New Haven jumped has up to 11th in the NE10 with 60.1 points per game.
 
-   The Chargers are fifth in the conference by shooting 42.5 percent overall and are shooting 28.6 percent from the arc, which sits 11th in the NE10.
 
-     Senior Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) leads the team in both scoring (13.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg). She scored season-high 27 points at American International on Dec. 10. She had a season-high 14-rebound, five-block performance on Nov. 23 against Le Moyne. She has 12+ rebounds on two occasions this season.
 
-   Freshman Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) leads the NE10 in field goal percentage at 60.7 percent (54-for-89). She is second on the team with 11.9 points per game and is second with 6.3 rebounds per game.
 
-   Sophomore Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) is the third Charger scoring in double figures this season at 10.6 ppg. She has scored at least 13 points per game in each of the last four games and has 5.3 rebounds per game this season.
 
-     Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) is second in the NE10 with a .455 3FG percentage. She also averages 3.5 assists per game, tied for 11th in the NE10. She has jumped her scoring average up to 9.5 points per game.
 
-     Redshirt sophomore point guard Luzdali Ocasio (Davenport, Fla./New Hampton) is tied for fifth in the NE10 with 4.3 assists per game. She had a career-high 10 assists at Chestnut Hill on December 11.
 
SCOUTING GOLDEY-BEACOM
-   Goldey-Beacom (1-9, 1-2 CACC) closed out the 2019 portion of its schedule with its first win of the season, pulling out a 70-69 win at home over Wilmington on Dec. 21.
 
-   After dropping their first nine games of the season, seven by double-digits, the Lightning held off a late run against Wilmington on December 21. They are 0-6 away from home this season.
 
-   Holding a scoring margin of -15.2, GBC is scoring 56.4 points per game this season, while allowing 71.6.
 
-   Senior guard Amanda McGrogan and sophomore guard Sarah Round each score in double figures for the Lighting, while Alexis Harrison scores 8.2 ppg and leads the squad with 5.0 rebounds per contest.
 
-   McGrogan also leads the team in assists and steals.
 
-   McGrogan led the Lightning with 25 points and eight rebounds against Wilmington in their Dec. 21 win. Round tallied 14 points on four three-pointers.

HOME COOKING
New Haven has won nine consecutive home games dating back to last season, their longest streak at home since they won 12 straight at Charger Gymnasium during the 2014-15 season.
 
WAITING TIL CRUNCH TIME!
Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) scored 11 of her 13 points over the final 6:04 of regulation in the team's 65-55 win at Dominican on December 19. She helped put the game away by scoring nine unanswered points by herself to help the Chargers take a 62-51 lead with 1:01 remaining.
 
BREAK OUT THE BROOMS!
Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) and Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) helped New Haven sweep the NE10 Weekly Awards on Dec. 16 by being named the NE10 Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Read full story here.
 
CRASHING THE BOARDS
New Haven has yet to be outrebounded this season, outrebounding its opponents in nine games, and drawing even with Pace. New Haven's +9.5 rebounding margin is second in the NE10.
 
TIS' THE SEASON OF GIVING
New Haven dished out 22 assists at Chestnut Hill on December 11. It was the most assists by the Chargers since they had 20 against Southern Connecticut on February 4, 2014.
 
DEBOSE HEATING UP
-   Sophomore Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) shot 18-for-42 (.429) over the last three games, scoring 17 points at AIC, 18 at Chestnut Hill and 16 at Dominican, her three highest scoring outputs this season. She also tied her career-high with five three-pointers at Chestnut Hill.
 
HOLIDAY COOKING
New Haven shot 52.0 percent (26-for-50) at American International on December 10, their best shooting night of the season. They also hit a season-high nine three-pointers.
 
NEXT ON TAP
The Chargers will hit the road for three straight games, beginning with one of their stiffest tests of the season, a showdown at current No. 15 nationally ranked Adelphi on January 4.
