OPENING TIP
Winners of six in a row, the Chargers will head down to Long Island on Saturday for their biggest test so far this season, a showdown at nationally ranked No. 15 Adelphi.
The matchup pits the Chargers, one of the NE10s best defensive teams with a conference-best scoring defense, against the unbeaten Panthers' offense that is averaging nearly 81 points per game and a shooting a NE10-best 36.0 percent from three-point range.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- New Haven is 25-20 all-time against the Panthers, with Adelphi having won both matchups last season. New Haven has not won at Adelphi since 2014.
SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
- Currently off to the second-best start in program history, the Chargers enter Saturday's matchup at 10-1 overall (4-1 NE10).
- The team has played strong defense through the first half of the season, allowing a conference-low 50.7 points per game. The Chargers are also leading the NE10 in field goal percentage defense (.328) and are sixth in 3pt FG% defense at 29.1 percent.
- The Chargers have seen a jump in offensive production of late, scoring at least 65 points in five straight games. Previously, the team only cracked the 60-point plateau twice through their first six games.
- The Chargers have climbed to fourth in the conference by shooting 43.3 percent overall and are shooting 28.9 percent from the arc, which sits 11th in the NE10.
SCOUTING ADELPHI
- Sitting at 13-0 (4-0 NE10), Adelphi is ranked No. 15 nationally in the latest (Dec. 16) WBCA Coaches Poll.
- Averaging 80.9 ppg, the Panthers are second in the NE10 in scoring, first in three-point percentage (.360) and eighth in overall shooting percentage (.408).
- Adelphi pulls down a conference-leading 15.3 offensive rebounds per game, including a season-high 24 in their last game against Chestnut Hill. Overall, the Panthers rebounding margin of 1.2 is ninth in the NE10.
- The Panthers are deep, with seven players all averaging at least 7.0 points per game.
- Leading the offense is Leonie Edringer with 15.0 ppg, and is fourth in the NE10 with 9.5 rebounds per game.
- Katie Murphy leads the squad with a .539 field goal pct. and averages 12.5 ppg. Fallyn Stephens (10.6) and Julia Strachan (10.5) also score in double figures.

BIG POINTS FOR PERGOLA
Brie Pergola (Torrington, Conn./Torrington) tied her career-high with 20 points on Thursday against Goldey-Beacom, going 7-for-11 from the floor with a trio of three-pointers. Her only other 20-point game came in November 2017 against AIC.
UNDER-50 CLUB
New Haven has held opponents under 50 points in six games this season - Bridgeport (42), Bloomfield (47), Le Moyne (49), Southern Connecticut (48), Saint Rose (48) and Goldey-Beacom (43). New Haven holds the NE10's best scoring defense (50.7).
OCASIO'S HELPING HAND
Luzdali Ocasio (Davenport, Fla./New Hampton) is averaging 6.0 assists over the last four games.
She had a career-high 10 assists at Chestnut Hill on December 11, the first Charger to have at least 10 assists in a game since Helin Marte had 10 against Adelphi on December 8, 2009.
CRASHING THE BOARDS
New Haven has yet to be outrebounded this season, outrebounding its opponents in 10 games, and drawing even with Pace. New Haven's +8.8 rebounding margin is second in the NE10.
HOME COOKING
New Haven has won 10 consecutive home games dating back to last season, their longest streak at home since they won 12 straight at Charger Gymnasium during the 2014-15 season.
HOLIDAY COOKING
New Haven has shot a season-high 52.0 percent (26-for-50) on two occasions - vs. Goldey-Beacom on January 2 and at American International on December 10. They also hit a season-high nine three-pointers against AIC.
RECORD WATCH
- Senior
Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) has moved into sole possession of third place on the school's career blocks list with 109. Next up on the list is Aquillan Hayes '15 with 134. The program record for career blocks is 246 held by Joy Jeter '89.
Wormack is also fourth in program history with a .484 career field goal percentage. She finished last season with a .527 field goal percentage, which ranks ninth all-time in single season program history.
