ROXBURY, Mass. – Junior
Dante Gonzalez (Palisades Park, N.J./Palisades Park) led the Chargers men's track and field team with a ninth place finish on Saturday at the NEICAAA Championships.
Gonzalez cleared 1.94 meters on his second attempt in the high jump, finishing in a three-way tie for ninth place, just one place shy of All-New England honors.
Elsewhere in the jumps, sophomore
Jackson Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) finished 11th in the finals of the triple jump after leaping 13.31 meters.
Jacky Marescot (Spring Valley, N.Y./Ramapo) (13.12m) and
Jonathan Cineus (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) (13.04m) also represented New Haven in the event.
On the track,
Matthew McLaughlin (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) turned in times of 7.19 in the 60m prelims, and 22.86 in the prelims of the 200 meters.
Sophomore
Blake Jandreau (Wallingford, Conn./Lyman Hall) set a new personal-record of 49.94 seconds to finish 13th out of 32 in the 400m prelims.
Kevin Leach-Brown (Bronx, N.Y./Mount St. Michael Academy) placed 10th out of 31 in the 500m prelims, finishing in 1:05.54.
Michael Reddy (Forest Hills, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) turned in a time of 1:56.83 to place 11th in the 800 meter prelims, and
AJ Tejada (Willimantic, Conn./E.O. Smith) competed in the preliminary round of the 60 meter hurdles (8.79 seconds).
In the 4x400 meter relay, the quartet of
Kevin Antoine (Hamden, Conn./Hamden), Jandreau, Gonzalez and Leach-Brown combined on a time of 3:24.98.
The Chargers will return to action in two weeks with a pair of meets: the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University on February 14-15, and the Giegengack Invitational at Yale on February 15.
