OPENING TIP
For the second consecutive season, the Chargers have earned a first round bye in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament and will play at Saint Anselm in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Saint Anselm holds a 14-12 all-time record against the Chargers, winning the matchup earlier this season 58-50 at Charger Gymnasium.
- New Haven has won two of the last three matchups and three of the last five in the series, including a 63-59 win at Stoutenburgh Gym last season.
SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
- The Chargers enter the NE10 Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the Southwest Division, their second straight tournament appearance and second year in a row of earning the third seed.
- After starting the season 10-1, the second-best start through 11 games in program history, the Chargers had a 2-5 stretch before rebounding to win six of their last eight to close the regular season.
- New Haven's defense has been a consistent force all season for the Blue and Gold, leading the NE10 and ranking 8th in the nation in scoring defense at 53.6 points per game. The Chargers also lead the conference and rank 9th nationally in FG% defense (.334), and rank third in the NE10 by holding the opposition to just 29.2 percent from three-point range. The Chargers also sit 30th in the nation in rebounding margin (+7.5).
- Offensively, the Chargers are averaging 57.4 points per game, good for 12th in the NE10.
- The Chargers rank seventh in the conference by shooting 41.1 percent overall and are shooting 30.1 percent from the arc, which sits 11th in the NE10.
- Senior
Micah Wormack (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) leads the team in scoring (13.3) and rebounding (7.6). She has scored a season-high 27 points, both of which came against American International. She also tied her career-high with 18 rebounds against American Int'l on Feb. 15.
- Freshman
Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) holds the NE10 lead in field goal percentage at 56.6 percent (125-for-221). She is second on the team in scoring (11.4) and rebounding (7.4).
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- At 19-6, Saint Anselm has earned the No. 2 seed in the NE10's Northeast Division.
- They are second in the NE10 and 48th in the nation in scoring at 74.5 points per game.
- The Hawks rank atop the NE10 in defensive rebounds (30.5) and rebounding margin (+9.8), and rank 12th nationally in both categories.
- Saint Anselm ranks second in the NE10 in field goal pct (.439), third in assists (16.2/game) and third in blocks (4.3/game).
- Senior Shannon Ryan leads the squad and leads the NE10 in scoring (22.8), rebounds (14.8), and is fourth in field goal percentage (54.0).
- Payton Steinman has also been one of the conference's top performers this season, ranking second in the NE10 in scoring (19.8) and seventh in rebounding (8.0).
- Last season, the Hawks defeated Adelphi at home in the quarterfinals of the NE10 Tournament before falling to Bentley in the semifinals. They went on to win the East Regional and advanced to the DII Elite 8 in Columbus, Ohio.

NE10 TOURNAMENT
New Haven is in the quarterfinals for the seventh time in 11 years since joining the NE10 prior to the 2008-09 season.
The Chargers hold a 4-3 record all-time in the NE10 quarterfinals, and have won in two straight trips to the quarterfinals with road upsets in 2016 at Saint Anselm and 2019 at Stonehill.
CRASHING THE BOARDS
- New Haven has been outrebounded only three times all season on Jan. 22 against Saint Anselm, Feb. 8 at Le Moyne and Feb. 22 vs. Adelphi. They have outrebounded their opponents in 20 games this season, and drew even on three occasions against Pace, Stonehill and Assumption. New Haven's +7.5 rebounding margin is second in the NE10 and 30th in the nationally in DII.
LOCKDOWN DEFENSE
The Chargers have allowed under 50 points in 12 games this season, including 40 points to then-No. 19 Bentley a season-low 35 points to Pace on Feb. 5. The Chargers are eighth in all of DII women's basketball in scoring defense by allowing just 53.6 ppg.
DOWNtoWn TURNAROUND
Over the last two games against SCSU and Adelphi, the Chargers have shot a combined 9-for-20 from three-point range. They went 5-for-12 against SCSU and 4-for-8 against Adelphi.
Previously, New Haven had connected on just two of their 30 attempts over the previous three games (.067) and were 5-for-40 (.125) over the previous four games.
