BETHPAGE, N.Y. – In its final test before championship season gets underway, the New Haven women's cross country team posted a sixth place finish in the Adelphi Short Course Showdown at Bethpage State Park, the home of the NCAA East Region Championships which are scheduled for Saturday, November 19.
For the fourth time in as many races this season, sophomore Isabella Bostic (Saint Johnsbury, Vt./Saint Johnsbury Academy) took home the top billing for the Chargers, closing out the 5k course in a time of 20:35.0 to finish 22nd overall among a field of 138 runners. Finishing less than a minute behind her was senior Alexandra Kenealy who closed out the course in a time of 21:06.3, closing out the event 29th overall, 27th among the scoring.
Together, the pair helped lead the Chargers to a sixth place finish among 19 teams participating in the event. Southern New Hampshire took home the top spot in the event, followed by Adelphi, STAC, American International and Saint Michael's.
Senior Da-Xia Colon would follow that pair, taking home 39th place overall, 35st in the scoring, with a time of 21:45.3. A rookie followed in the fourth spot for the Blue and Gold with Elsie Kaas (Elverson, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) finishing the short course in a time of 21:55.7 to take 41st place overall, 37th in the scoring.
Wrapping up the Chargers scoring five was senior Hannah Swain (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) who was just less than a minute behind Kaas with a time of 22:29.4 to finish 48th overall, 33rd in the scoring.
New Haven will take the next three weeks to prepare before returning to the course in Colchester, Vt. for the 2022 Northeast-10 Conference Championship which will be hosted by Saint Michael's College.
