COMPLETE NORTHEAST-10 PRESEASON POLL
FULL 2022 FIELD HOCKEY SCHEDULE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Following its most successful season in program history, the University of New Haven field hockey team has been picked to finish sixth in the 2022 Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Chargers return to the field for their fifth season since the inception of the program when they take to the field on Labor Day, Monday, September 5 at Adelphi.
The Chargers received 105 points, the most they have earned in the preseason poll, keeping them inside of the top-10 for the second straight season. Assumption earned the top billing, scoring 10 of the 14 possible first place points for a total of 165 points. Saint Anselm and Bentley follow to close out the top-three, with Saint Anselm earning the remaining first place votes and 154 points and Bentley third with 140 points. Rounding out the top-five was Adelphi with 134 points and Pace with 127 points.
Following the Chargers in seventh place was Southern New Hampshire with 99 points. Saint Thomas Aquinas (77 points), Saint Michael's (69), American International (61), Franklin Pierce (55), Southern Connecticut (38), Mercy (33) and Molloy (17) make up the remaining seven teams in the poll.
Leading the Chargers into the 2022 campaign will be the top two scorers from a year ago, rising sophomore Abby Nixon (Wrentham, Mass./King Phillip Regional) and graduate student Sophie Schreck (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand). The rookie a season ago, Nixon led the Chargers on the year with 19 points on a team-high seven goals and adding five assists. Schreck finished just behind her with six goals and added a pair of assists for 14 points.
Also among the leading returners will be graduate student goalie Keira Integlia (Branford, Conn./Branford) who closed out her first campaign with the Blue and Gold collecting 135 saves and finishing the year with a 1.51 goals against average.
Following its opener at Adelphi, the field hockey team will play nearly the full month of September away from home before hosting Pace for the 2022 home opener, the first of seven home games at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium. The home opener against the Setters is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
