NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Sophomore Isabella Bostic (Saint Johnsbury, Vt./Saint Johnsbury Academy) led the New Haven women's cross country team for the second time this season as she paced the Chargers at the annual Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State University at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain.
Bostic shaved over a minute off of her time from the season-opening Wesleyan Cardinals Invitational, closing out the 5K course in a time of 19:57, which placed her 45th overall in the standings. As a team, New Haven finished the event in 10th place overall with 12 teams competing.
Freshman Rina Stanghellini (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) followed Bostic in the standings, finishing the course in a time of 20:43 to place 59th overall, while two spots behind her was senior Alli Kenealy (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) in 61st overall with a time of 20:56.
Rounding out the Chargers top-five finishers were another freshman-senior combination with Elsie Kaas (Elverson, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) in 66th with a time of 21:43 and Da-Xia Colon one spot behind her with a time of 21:51.
The women's cross country team will return to action in two weeks time when they head to Boston, Mass. for the annual New England Championship event which will take place at Franklin Park on Saturday, October 8.
