WHAT'S ON TAP
Looking to lock in their postseason seeding, the New Haven women's basketball team welcomes Saint Anselm to West Haven for the 2022-23 regular season finale on Tuesday evening. Both the Chargers and Hawks have a lot riding on the regular season finale with New Haven likely to finish anywhere between fifth and seventh place, while the Hawks are looking to lock up a home game in the first round. Tip-off in the key NE10 battle is slated for 5:30 p.m. at Charger Gym.

SCOUTING NEW HAVEN
Looking to close out the regular season on a positive note, New Haven needs to continue to rely on a defense that is holding opponents to just 58.4 points per game, while keeping confidence in its shooting where it is currently 27th in NCAA Division II with its 43.8 percent from the field. Leading the way is Camryn DeBose (Wellington, Fla./Wellington Community) who is averaging 15.7 points per game, fifth in the NE10, including a career-high 30 points in the season opener against Georgian Court. Her co-captain Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) has both offense and defense on her mind as she is second on the team averaging 13.0 ppg, while one of two players in the NE10 who is averaging a double double as she is pulling down a conference-best 10.7 rebounds per outing. In addition, Deshaies leads all NE10 players and is sixth in the nation with her 62% shooting percentage (147-of-237) with all of her points coming from inside the three-point arc. Rounding out the leading scorers for the Blue and Gold is senior point guard Kameryn King (Old Saybrook, Conn./Mercy) who is averaging 10.0 ppg, while leading the team with 113 assists, with her 4.7 assists per game average second in the conference and 28th best in the nation.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
Looking to close out the regular season with back-to-back victories, the Hawks can lock up a first round home game with a victory, even if they end up tied with the Pace Setters. For the season, the Hawks are averaging 62.7 points per game, which stands sixth in the league, while still outscoring their opponents by 1.5 points per game. For the season, Saint Anselm has a trio of players who average double figures, led by Gabby Turco who is currently third in the NE10 with her average of 16.3 ppg. Joining her in leading the team with Melanie Hoyt (11.6 ppg) and Liv Robles (11.2 ppg), while Robles leads the team in the rebounding category with her 7.8 per game average.

SERIES HISTORY vs SAINT ANSELM

·        New Haven and Saint Anselm meet for the 28th time in the history of the two programs.

·        Saint Anselm holds a 15-12 record in the previous 27 games, including wins in eight of the first 10 matchups, all prior to New Haven joining the NE10

·        New Haven saw a string of success when they won five straight and eight-of-10 from 2013-19.

·        The Hawks have seen much of the most recent success, winning the last four matchups, including a 60-51 win in the first meeting earlier this season.

LAST TIME VS THE HAWKS
Senior Aurora Deshaies (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) put up a then season-best 21 points in a 60-51 loss to open up a two-game road trip at Saint Anselm. Deshaies was one of two players in double figures for the Chargers with point guard Kameryn King (Old Saybrook, Conn./Mercy) joining her with 11 points. Among the two leading scorers, Deshaies led the way, shooting 9-of-12 from the field, while pulling down seven boards. Leighanna Lister (Kutztown, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh), making her second consecutive start, led New Haven with 10 boards, while as a team New Haven finished with a 36-27 rebounding advantage. For the game, New Haven outshot the Hawks, making 21 field goals in 47 attempts, while Saint Anslem also finished with 21 buckets, there's coming on 54 attempts. The Hawks had four of their field goals come from outside the three point arc, while New Haven was held without a long range bucket, while the Hawks held the advantage in the free throw column going a perfect 14-of-14, while New Haven was 9-of-17.

The Chargers will await the official release of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship bracket to see who they will face in the opening round of the playoffs on Friday, February 24.
