FULL NORTHEAST-10 RELEASE
MANSFIELD, Mass. – Just a few weeks removed from their seasons, nine student-athletes representing four University of New Haven spring teams have been named Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference as announced by the league office.
Overall, the Chargers nine selections were part of 131 total across 10 spring sports sponsored by the Northeast-10. Also included among the group were a trio from women's lacrosse who joined 20 others for the most from any single spring sport.
Highlighting the nine selections is graduate jumper/sprinter Kristen Washington (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) who earns the distinction for the second time this academic year after earning the same honors following the indoor season. Joining Washington from outdoor track and field was senior Neva Bostic (Saint Johnsbury, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy) with both adding this accolade to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors as well as both earning All-Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The three players joining the leading sport of women's lacrosse were seniors Cameryn Antler (Hebron, Conn./Mercy) and Laura Agbayani (Niantic, Conn./East Lyme) and sophomore attack Raegan Bailey (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire). A pair of softball players rounded out the seven women honored with Mia Iodice (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Regional) and Selena Aponte (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) earning the distinction. Rounding out the spring honors for the Chargers were the lone men's representatives which hail from the baseball team, seniors Drew Silverman (Commack, N.Y./Commack) and Tyler Wells (Danville, Vt./St. Johnsbury Academy).
Including fall and winter sports, a total of 18 Chargers earned Academic All-Conference honors throughout the 2022-23 academic year. To be eligible for Academic All-Conference distinction, a student-athlete must have started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor. In addition, all nominees must have achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale.
