FINAL RESULTS
GETTYSBURG, Penn. – The University of New Haven Men's Golf team began their 2024-25 season, under newly named head coach Evan DeLuca, as they opened up their season in Pennsylvania as they competed at the West Chester Invitational at The Links at Gettysburg. A 6,825-yard, par 72 course the men were one of eight teams competing in the two-day invitational that saw first round play on Monday with the second round concluding on Tuesday.
Hermann Gavilan (Valencia, Spain) led the way for the Chargers carding his best score of the tournament with a two-under 36 on the back nine to finish one under in the second round matching to finish him +3 for the tournament tied for fifth. Hermann's second-round 71(-1) bested his opening-round 76(+4) to sit six shots back of the leader.
Alex Mitrovich followed him, finishing tied for 27th in his first collegiate event. Mitrovich carded an opening round 75(+3) before shooting a second round 83(+11) for a combined score of 158(+14). Frank Ferru Jr. was the third finisher for New Haven, closing out the event tied for 34th as he carded an opening round 81(+9) before shooting a second round 82(+10) for a combined score of 163(+19).
Nick Gladden (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) and Aaron Browning (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson) rounded out the Chargers five. Gladden finished 38th overall, carding an opening round 89(+17) before shooting a second round 93(+21) for a combined score of 182(+38). Browning finished 39th with an opening round 94(+22) before shooting a three-shot better second round 91(+19) for a combined score of 185(+41).
Overall, the Chargers finished eighth as a team, shooting a combined 648(+72) as they shot +33 in the opening round and then shot +39 in the final round.
The Chargers return to the course next week when they travel north to New Hampshire to compete at the Penmen Fall Invitational at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord, New Hampshire. The opening round begins on Monday, September 16 and the final round will be Tuesday, September 17.
