PUEBLO, Colo. – New Haven Track and Field traveled out west to compete in the NCAA National Championships over the weekend. The Chargers were represented by
Nile Love (Wheatley Heights, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East),
Jada Kamtha (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls),
Gabrielle Teel (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Moreland), and
Jordany Dely (Spring Valley, N.Y./Paramus Catholic).
Love kicked off the weekend for the Blue & Gold in the men's long jump. A leap of 7.18 meters earned him 18th in the competition, making him 18th in the country.
Kamtha finished 15th in the country in women's 100 meter hurdles. The sophomore posted a time of 13.78 seconds, just .38 seconds away from qualifying for the finals. Her time is also the second-fastest mark in program history.
Teel took 13th in the nation in women's triple jump. Her mark of 12.41 meters narrowly missed a top-10 spot in the country. Her distance ranks second all-time in program history.
Dely, who advanced to the National Championship after a top-eight finish out of 22 sprinters in the men's 110 meter hurdles, took home eighth place in the nation, finishing his season as an All American. Dely's qualifying time of 13.77 seconds set a New Haven program record, breaking his own record that he previously set earlier this season.
