NEW ORLEANS, La. – Both the New Haven men's and women's cross country programs have earned All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Additionally, seniors Michael Reddy (Forest Hills, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), Mary Kate Barton (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland), and Madeline Morrisson (Kent, Wash./Kentlake), and freshman Alli Kenealy (Shelton, Conn./Shelton) each earned individual All-Academic honors for their performances in the classroom.

The Charger women's earned the department's highest female team GPA during the fall semester, boasting a cumulative team GPA of 3.56, while the men held a mark of 3.24.

On the men's side, the Chargers were one of seven teams from the Northeast-10 to earn team All-Academic honors, while the New Haven women were one of nine schools from the NE10 to earn the distinction.

A senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.56 and a 3.80 GPA during the Fall 2019 semester, Reddy led the Charger men's pack in all six races this past season, highlighted by a season-best 8K time of 26:29.3 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, and a ninth place showing out of 75 at the Bruce Kirsch XC Cup.

A criminal justice major with a 3.49 GPA, Barton led the Chargers pack in three races and finished in the team's top three in all five of her meets this season. She finished second overall out of 73 with a season-best 5K time of 19:24.4 at the Bruce Kirsch XC Cup and earned Third Team All-NE10 honors at the NE10 Championships after placing 17th overall.

Morrisson also finished in the Chargers' top three in all five of her meets, including picking up her first individual title by winning the Adelphi Panther Invitational with a 5K time of 19:23.2. She placed in the top 30 overall out of more than 200 runners at two different meets, and finished 30th overall, third on the team, at the NE10 Championships. Morrisson graduated Magna Cum Laude this winter with a degree in biology with a concentration in biochemistry.

Kenealy finished in the top three of all five of her meets to cap a strong freshman season, highlighted by leading the Blue and Gold at the James Earley Invitational with a season-best mark of 19:24.8. She also placed second on the Chargers and 20th overall at the NE10 Championships, and had a pair of top 10 overall finishes to start the season. A criminal justice major, Kenealy holds a cumulative GPA of 3.74.
