Dave Caiazzo won 22 of 24 career decisions in two seasons on the mound for New Haven baseball.
In 1976, he went 11-1, posting three shutouts and a 2.89 earned run average with 80 strikeouts as the Chargers qualified for the NCAA Division II Northeast Regionals.
In 1977, Caiazzo once again posted an 11-1 mark – this time guiding the Chargers to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA College World Series. The right-hander again hurled three shutouts with 62 strikeouts en route to a 1.54 earned run average.
Caiazzo was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies and made 11 appearances on the bump for the Butte (Mont.) Copper Kings of the Pioneer League in 1978.
