Tom Michalczyk, a 1976 First Team All-America pitcher, was a key figure in four playoffs for the Charger baseball teams from 1975 through 1978.

He went 13-0 with a 1.58 ERA in his All-America campaign and also turned in seasons with 10-2 and 10-0 records en route to finishing his career as the winningest pitcher in UNH baseball history at 34-3. His 34 wins remain the second most all-time at New Haven as of January 2016.

Michalczyk, who once won 27 consecutive decisions without a loss, served as team captain of the 1978 squad that went 32-4 and finished third in the nation. He concluded his career as the 1978 UNH Athlete of the Year.
