Ken Coleman was a four-year starter and All-New England Collegiate Conference performer for both New Haven baseball and men’s basketball from 1984-88.

On the diamond, he was a member of four consecutive NCAA College World Series Teams, three of which won at least one game on the national stage. In his All-America campaign of 1988, Coleman hit .428 with four home runs and 34 RBI.

On the basketball court, he scored 1,229 points and – as of Jan. 2016 – remains the program’s all-time leader with 595 assists and 270 steals in his career. He can also be found among the top-10 all-time in three point percentage (7th, .375) and free throws (t-10th, 303).

Following his collegiate career, Coleman spent seven seasons playing minor league baseball. The infielder rose as high as Triple A Nashville in the Chicago White Sox organization and also spent the 1994 season as a teammate of Michael Jordan with the Birmingham Barons.

Coleman, who finished his career in the Chicago Cubs’ farm system, was a career .258 hitter with 12 home runs and 92 stolen bases in over 1,500 professional at-bats.
