PHOTO GALLERYOne of the best receivers in Charger football history, Elvert Eden ranks near the top of every receiving record at the University of New Haven after concluding his four-year career in 2000. The New Haven Male Athlete of the Year as a junior, the Staten Island, N.Y. native excelled not only on the football field, but also on the track.

Eden made an immediate impact his rookie season on the gridiron. He finished second on the team with 29 catches for 498 yards and four touchdowns, including a dominating performance in the NCAA quarterfinals against Slippery Rock when he caught seven passes for 205 yards and three touchdowns. In his sophomore campaign, Eden also finished second on the team with 30 catches for 411 yards and three touchdowns.

Eden finished tops on the team in 1999 with 62 receptions for 1,006 yards and seven touchdowns. He was the fourth UNH player to post 1,000 receiving yards in a single season and he ranked fifth in single-season receptions. With 10 catches for 240 yards and three touchdowns against Bloomsburg on September 4 of his junior year, he set the Chargers new standard for receiving yards in a single game.

Recognized for his explosiveness and poise, Eden capped his career with another outstanding season. He led the team with 42 catches and a career-high eight touchdowns for 540 yards. His eight touchdown grabs rank seventh all-time in the UNH single season record books.

In his four years at New Haven, Eden received many accolades, including the University's Male Athlete of the Year and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference honors. He ranks second all-time with 163 receptions, fifth all-time with 22 touchdowns and third all-time with 2,455 receiving yards.
