Hall of Fame
Nick Sakiewicz entered the New Haven Hall of Fame as one of the most successful goaltenders in school history.
He still holds several school records including most shutouts in a season with 11, while his 25 career shutouts remained the most in school history until 1999.
An All-New England Collegiate Conference and All-New England selection, his best season came during his junior year in which he allowed only 10 goals in 20 games, and stopped 121 of 131 shots. That same season, he set the school record with his 11 shutouts.
As a senior when he allowed only 17 goals in 19 games as a starter. That season he stopped 123 of 140 shots on goal.Â
Following graduation, Sakiewicz played professionally in both France and Portugal and served a number of years as an executive for Major League Soccer, including being named the Executive of the Year twice. Most recently, he was named the Commissioner of the National Lacrosse League in the fall of 2015.Â
